Mike Nugent raises his arms in triumph as he crosses the line to win the men’s class 2 400m at the 1984 summer Paralympics in world record time. Although the 1984 Games were held in two locations an ocean apart, the wheelchair athletes had their only ever chance to compete in the Paralympics at the spiritual home of the movement, at Stoke Mandeville.
