1994, Beijing

Introduction

The 6th FESPIC Games were held in China’s capital, Beijing, from 4-10 September, 1994, bringing them back into the schedule of a two year separation from the summer Paralympics.

A record number of 42 nations and 2,081 competitors attended the Games, competing in 14 sports.

As with the previous Games in Kobe, the Beijing FESPIC Games were well planned and organised. There were, however, a number of issues around the classification of athletes that created issues and foreshadowed the need for a more coordinated approach to this element of sport.
