1982, Hong Kong

Introduction

The 3rd FESPIC Games were held in Sha Tin in the New Territories of Hong Kong, from 31 October to 7 November 1982. The main competition venue was the New Jubilee Sports Stadium. Athletes were accommodated in a newly built hospital which was scheduled to open immediately after the Games.

In all, almost 800 athletes represented 23 countries at the Games, with the Australian team of 157 the largest.

Events were held for athletes in a range of impairment classes, including amputee athletes, athletes with spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and vision impairments.

The Australian team led the medal tally.
