Australia plays England in the wheelchair basketball final at the 1966 Commonwealth Paraplegic Games in Kingston, Jamaica. Australians L to R in the dark singlets: John “Jimmy” Newton, Kevin Cunningham, John Martin, Bill Mather-Brown (tip-off) and Bruno Moretti. The English player in the tip-off is Cyril Thomas. England won the game and the gold medal. The chairs of the Australian players are a mix of set-ups, some with two stabilising rear wheels, some without. Mather-Brown plays in a chair with two large front wheels and a single rear wheel. these chairs were very quick to turn but very unstable and by 1966 were already becoming a rarity.
