The Australian Team is formally welcomed to the Games Village

At each Paralympic Games, there is now a tradition of a formal welcome to the Paralympic Games Village, where all the teams are accommodated, for each participating nation in the lead-up to the start of the Games. This is usually done by the Mayor of the Village. Here, the 1996 Australian Team Chef de Mission, George Dunstan, accepts a welcome gift from the Village Mayor during the welcome ceremony, watched by members of the Team. One of them obligingly drinks from a can of Atlanta’s most famous commercial beverage.
