The Aussies were out of the blocks and full of running

Don Elgin leaves the blocks in the 100m event during the men’s P44 pentathlon competition at the 1996 summer Paralympics. While Elgin finished out of the medals in 4th, he was representative of the attitude in the 1996 Australian Team – he trained as hard as any able-bodied athlete and was as fit, strong and prepared for his event as he could possibly be. It was an approach that paid off in Atlanta and then in Sydney and subsequent Games.
