Prior to the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games, the Australian Team spent a month training and racing in Europe, from a base in Tamsweg, Austria. The preparation was the best ever given to an Australian team. Here, Rod Hacon competes in a lead-up event. Like many in the field in Lillehammer, Hacon crashed out in the technical events – the slalom and giant slalom, then was heart-breakingly close to the medals in the speed events – super-G (4th) and the downhill (5th).
