The personal identity card of Australian track athlete Joe Egan from the 1984 summer Paralympics in New York. Nowadays, the ‘PIAC’ (personal identity and accreditation card) is a secure pass which also serves as an athlete’s entry visa to the host country and is used to control and monitor their access to venues, for transport and other privileges. The PIAC is worn everywhere during the Games by athletes and Team officials.
