Prior to the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Games, the Australian Team spent a month training and racing in Europe, from a base in Tamsweg, Austria. The preparation was the best ever given to an Australian team and Michael Norton was one of those who benefitted most from it, winning two gold medals in Lillehammer to lead the Australian charge to an overall ninth on the Games’ medal tally with a team of just six alpine skiers.
