Ludwig Guttmann speaks at the opening ceremony

Ludwig Guttmann, the founder of the Paralympic movement, addressed the athletes and supporters at the opening ceremony of the Toronto Paralympics. It would be the last time he would do so, for he died before the 1980 Games and before the Games were reunited ‘in parallel’ with the Olympics, once again in the same city and venues, in 1988.
