Australian athlete Terry Mason throws the javelin during the men’s Class 3 Pentathlon event at the 1972 summer Paralympics. Mason won bronze in this event. His chair is held in place by ropes tied down to the edges of the throwing circle, an advancement on the early years when another person would hold the chair steady.
