Hou and Lindsay win Australia’s first medal of the Games

The track cycling started on day one of the Athens summer Paralympics and Lindy Hou and her sighted pilot, Janelle Lindsay, picked up Australia’s first medal of the Games, when they finished third in the 1000m time trial. Hou competed in four cycling events in Athens and came away with a medal in each – one gold, two silvers and this bronze medal. In 2004, vision impaired riders could have different pilots for sprint and endurance events and Hou partnered with Lindsay for the sprint events and Toireasa Gallagher for road events and the 3000m pursuit event on the track. Hou was 44 years old and at her first Games.
