Australian shooter Barbara Caspers won three medals at the 1980 summer Paralympics – one gold, one silver and one bronze. As a shooter with quadriplegia, her ability to support the weight of the gun was limited and the strap was used to aid her supporting arm. The 1980s were the golden age of Australian Paralympic shooting, largely due to Caspers and Libby Kosmala.
