Head cycling coach Kevin McIntosh talks to Kieran Modra and his sighted pilot (and wife) Kerry Modra after a disappointing performance on the track at the 2000 Sydney Paralympics. Kerry Modra, who was pregnant with her first child, fainted from low blood pressure after a quarter-final sprint race and the team made the decision to withdraw her from further competition. For the remainder of the Games, Kieran’s pilot in his mixed tandem events was his sister Tania Modra, who was also piloting Sarnya Parker in the women’s tandem events. After his first Games in 1988, Sydney was the only other Games in Kieran’s career of 8 Paralympics, across three sports, when he did not win a medal.
