Australia soared to its best athletics ranking at an away Games

Competing at his fifth Paralympics, Darren Thrupp put everything into his jump for a bronze medal at the Athens summer Paralympics. Thrupp returned from Athens with gold from the 4x100m T35-38 relay in a new world record and individual bronze medals from the 100m and long jump. He contributed to Australia’s best ever athletics ranking at an away Games, second behind the emerging Paralympic superpower, China.
