Contemplation of the task ahead for Jago Mikulic

Australian blind athlete Jago Mikulic with his coach at the start of the men’s Class A 60m for blind athletes. The athletes sprinted towards a coach at the end of the course who yelled and clapped as a directional cue for the athlete to follow. This was quite unreliable and led to many mishaps when athletes ran off course. Nowadays, a guide runner runs with the athlete. Mikulic finished 20th in the event out of 38 competitors.
